Are Internet Readers Cheated By a Shorter Article - Ask Writers and Authors of Articles
By Lance Winslow
Some authors who write online articles feel that it is cheating the online Internet Surfer and article readers if they consistently write 300 word articles. But is this a fair comment? You see if the article author or writer works hard to write a tight article they can often pack in more information in a shorter space, if not perhaps they are somewhat cheating the reader. What do you think?
Indeed, some readers might feel slighted to click on a cool title and not get the real information they want. Yet also realize that there is a saying about revity and the soul and it is important to work hard to say more in less space. Additionally if you over load the mind of the reader with incessant details you please some readers, but not the 80% average Internet click surfing, channel checking, king of their own emote control Virtual Reality World.
Regarding feeling cheated, boy I know how you feel, especially watching News Segments on TV were they cut off the interviewee just when they start getting to the good stuff, just cut him or her off and go to a hard break of course there is a reason why they do this; it is the lack of attention span of the average person. Sometimes I feel cheated myself with shortened segments and online news articles.
The important thing to remember is that it is your responsibility to flush out the idea and subject matter without cheating the reader in the shortest amount of words without detracting from the article. Do you feel this article is too short? What would you do to make it better? Did I make my point? Do you feel cheated, look at the word count and ask yourself is this article fair to the reader. Consider this in 2006.
